Actor Amitabh Bachchan has always been known for his discipline and punctuality. Filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia recently shared an anecdote from the sets of Ek Ajnabee (2005), revealing how Big B maintained his reputation. Lakhia recalled that Bachchan, along with him and others, had been out clubbing until 2:30–3:00 am. Despite the late night, Bachchan arrived on set sharp at 5 am as scheduled.

Arjun Rampal arrives hours late
The scene being shot that morning was a crucial moment where Bachchan and Arjun Rampal’s characters meet for the first time. Lakhia recounted, “Amit ji and I reached the set on time, and everything was ready. He had only one request—to let him sleep for two and a half hours in the afternoon, which we had already accounted for.” However, things took a turn when Rampal failed to show up on time.

Three-hour wait tests patience
Despite multiple attempts to reach him, Arjun Rampal only arrived two to three hours late. This delay disrupted the schedule, but somehow, the team managed to complete the scene before noon so that Bachchan could get his planned rest. “We had to send someone to his hotel to get him,” Lakhia added.

Big B’s silent revenge
The afternoon shoot required capturing Arjun Rampal’s close-up shots. However, since Rampal had kept Bachchan waiting for three hours in the morning, Big B decided to return the favor. “Amit ji did not even step out of the camper for three hours. Arjun started panicking as the sun was already setting,” Lakhia revealed.

A lesson in punctuality
With time running out and the shoot at risk, Arjun Rampal realized his mistake. According to Lakhia, Rampal finally admitted, ‘I will never be late again, boss.’ Without uttering a word, Amitabh Bachchan had made his point clear. Through his silence, he delivered an unspoken lesson in professionalism that Rampal would never forget.
