The Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood has found a precious partner in Mette-Marie Kongsved.

It’s unknown when Wood and Kongsved were first introduced to each other, but they appeared to work together on the set of Netflix’s 2017 film I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, which starred Wood and was produced by Kongsved.

The following year, the actor and producer were spotted holding hands in Pasadena, Calif., in January 2018, according to photos obtained by the Daily Mail. Since then, the two have kept their relationship private, with Wood sharing brief updates about their lives from time to time.

The couple welcomed their first child, a son, in 2019 after the producer debuted a baby bump that July. Their second child, a daughter, followed in 2022, per WSJ. Magazine.

Wood and Kongsved are now rumored to be married. The dad of two hinted that he and the producer had married when he called Kongsved his “wife” on the Jan. 6 episode of Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast.

She is a producer 

Kongsved is a film producer who earned her first producing credit in 2017 for her work on Netflix’s I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, according to IMDb.

Kongsved’s additional producing credits include Prime Video’s Get Duked! and the Bill Skarsgård film Nine Days, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020.

She also collaborated with Wood on Come to Daddy (2019) and Bookworm (2024).

She and Wood were first seen together in 2018 

Wood and Kongsved are a notoriously private couple. In January 2018, they stepped out hand-in-hand while walking in Pasadena, making it the first time the pair were seen in public together.

The following year, in February 2019, Wood and Kongsved attended a fashion show in Los Angeles.

Five months later, the producer was photographed sporting a noticeable baby bump and a diamond on her left ring finger, sparking rumors of an engagement and a growing family.

Wood and Kongsved became parents when they welcomed their son in 2019.

The actor later shared with Seth Meyers that Kongsved learned she was pregnant with their first child on Christmas Eve in 2018.

Kongsved and Wood quietly welcomed their second child, a daughter, in 2022.

The Yellowjackets star subtly announced her arrival during an interview with WSJ. Magazine in March 2023, saying, “We’ve got a 3-year-old son and a 14-month-old daughter, and she wakes us up pretty early. I like getting up early, I like starting the day.”

Wood also touched on how parenthood has changed him.

During an appearance on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast in January 2025, Wood hinted that he and Kongsved had secretly wed when he called the producer his “wife.”

“I’m beyond grateful for my family and my kids and my wife. They are such an extension of me,” he said. “They are the most important people in my life.”

TMZ has since reported that Wood and Kongsved tied the knot on New Year’s Eve in Sweden in front of roughly 80 friends and family members.

She and Wood made their red carpet debut in February 2024

The pair walked their first red carpet debut in February 2024 at the 30th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles. Kongsved dazzled in a black gown with lace detailing, while Wood looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo.

That evening, Wood reunited with his Lord of the Rings costar Sean Astin to present the award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role.
