Don’t count on Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom getting back together any time soon — or ever.
Of course, we are still reeling after learning just how final this split-up of the two A-listers really turns out to be. It’s sad, considering they’d been together for nearly a decade at this point. And it’s doubly sad considering they share 4-year-old daughter Daisy Dove, too!
But to hear insiders tell it now, it sounds like splitting up was actually the best course of action here. And it would have been even WORSE if they’d stayed together!

So, on Thursday afternoon, People spoke to a source who said the breakup between the 40-year-old pop star and the 48-year-old actor is “amicable.” That comment mostly tracks with our previous reporting. There was no big scandal, from what we’ve heard. Though it does seem like Orly isn’t taking her feelings into account so much with his post-breakup behavior.
So what was so bad about staying together? For one, the mag’s insider said the duo had gotten to a point where there was “no going back” to the paradise they’d once enjoyed:
“They got to a point where they feel there is no going back to a healthy relationship and that it’s better to live separate lives.”
Ugh.
Things must have gotten really rough in that case. We can’t help but wonder if Orlando’s reported reaction to Katy’s latest endeavors just hurt her too bad. Like, was she unable to ever believe he had respect for her again after he told her he was with the critics who thought her space trip was a dumb idea?
In the meantime, Perry is busy with her Lifetimes Tour, and on the road abroad right now amid its ongoing run. So, that coming in conjunction with the split from her now-former fiancé has made this a particularly difficult time for the songstress:
“She’s felt a lot of pressure about her tour and now this. It’s been a lot for her.”
We can’t even imagine dealing with a world tour AND a rough split at the same time. But still, that source was quick to add one more comment trying to wrap with an optimistic conclusion about the Firework singer’s outlook:
“She’s still doing great though.”
We hope that’s truly the case.
