The Wonder Woman game has been officially cancelled as Warner Bro takes an axe to multiple studios, including the recently purchased Multiversus developers.
The news of the Wonder Woman game being cancelled shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone following the game closely. A few weeks back, a report revealed that the game was going through some massive development woes at Monolith Productions. The project had seemingly already ballooned beyond $100 million in budget, even as the game had no clear release date and a long way to go on development. Anyone familiar with Warner Bros. strategy in recent years knew it was only a matter of time until the studio smelled the blood in the water and cancelled the game.
While Warner Bros. did go through with what many fans already thought they would do, the shocking part was how deep the cuts were. Not only was the Wonder Woman game cancelled, but the company shuttered award-winning developers Monolith Productions, who had previously put out beloved projects like Middle-earth: Shadow of War and the F.E.A.R. series. The axe also came down on Warner Bros. San Diego and Player First Games, the latter of which were recently acquired following their debut title Multiversus.
Fans Mourn The Cancelled Wonder Woman Game
Fans have taken to social media to mourn the loss of the long-awaited Wonder Woman project. While very few official details about the game were ever released by Warner Bros. or Monolith Productions, the project was set to be a single player action game focusing on Diana Prince’s journey to fight for both the world of man and the world of the Amazons. Gail Simone, who was a longtime writer for DC and the Wonder Woman comic, also spoke out about her involvement with the game and the team that worked to (try to) bring it to life.
Okay, regarding the Wonder Woman video game.
Others have already revealed elsewhere that I was a consultant on this game, so that Cheetah is out of the bag.
I want to say a couple important things about the game and the team who made it. pic.twitter.com/41sJrK4BF2

To put this into perspective, Batman Forever (1995) has two games.
Wonder Woman (1941 – present) has ZERO games. https://t.co/G42flBGXNX pic.twitter.com/LJYYboU3ts

Currently, there are no public plans for Warner Bros. to make another game with the DC license following the cancelled Wonder Woman game and the shutdown of Multiversus. However, James Gunn did confirm that the company was in talks with studios like Rocksteady and NeatherRealm to continue making projects based on their IP.
