Almost every big actor and fancast has been said to have been a part of the MCU’s upcoming reboot, with most rumors fizzling out after just a few days in the limelight. However, it seems fans might be getting ready to “Scream” in what may be the most concrete rumor yet.
Scooper MyTimeToShineHello reveals that Scream alum Neve Campbell isn’t just in talks to join the MCU, but has already been cast. Specifically, the actor will be playing Magneto’s daughter Polaris in the upcoming reboot of the X-Men. If this rumor is true, it’s likely that the trades will confirm the casting in days, if not hours. This puts a ticking clock on the report’s credibility.
Who Is Neve Campbell Playing In The MCU?
If this rumor is true, Neve Campbell will be the first actress to play Polaris on the silver screen. The MCU incarnation of the character will be the second live-action version, with Emma Dumont starring as the iconic X-Men in The Gifted. The Scream actress is also much older than any prior incarnation of the character, with Polaris often being portrayed as no older than her 30s, and being first introduced as a college student alongside Iceman.
While Polaris is often considered to be a hero, it’s possible that the MCU is taking a different direction with the character, introducing Neve Campbell as the stand-in for Magneto in their X-Men reboot. This would certainly explain the age difference, as it would likely mean that the franchise would not be changing the Master of Magnetism’s origins to make him younger.
