The X-Men are getting into some major trouble in the MCU! The latest rumor reveals some heavy-hitter villains for the first installment of the Mutant Saga.
Ever since it was announced that an X-Men reboot was officially in development for the MCU, fans have been going wild speculating about who the villains could be. The Mutant Saga is expected to be a fresh start after a messy Multiverse Saga, so hopes are sky high about who they could bring in. Some popular picks include Apocalypse, the Brotherhood of Mutants, and even the Shi’ar.
However, it seems as though the Mutant Saga is keeping things classic. The latest rumor from Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus reveals that the villains for the upcoming reboot are currently planned to be Mister Sinister, Bolivar Trask, and Senator Kelly. Given the names, it’s also likely that the X-Men will be facing off the Sentinels in their first outing in the MCU.
Who Will Be The Villains Of The Mutant Saga?
Out of all these villains, Mister Sinister is likely the name fans are most happy to see. The internet has been begging for the character to appear in an X-Men movie since the 90s, so seeing those dreams finally come to life in the MCU will likely be a treat. It also tees up the character for a persevering presence throughout the rets of the Mutant Saga, potentially serving as both a guiding light and an angel on the shoulder of the heroes.
However, that doesn’t mean Bolivar Trask and Senator Kelly are boring villains. Even though fans have seen them before, they have the most mileage out of any X-Men villain in history. The MCU could use them for every film in the Mutant Saga and never run out of source material. However, it’s more likely than not they will be temporary obstacles for the heroes to overcome before the TRUE big bad appears from the shadows.
