If the rumor mill is to be believed, Marvel is currently in the process of casting their X-Men for the MCU. One of the most coveted roles in this reboot is Ororo Munroe, aka Storm. Not only is the character one of the most esteemed members of the mutant team, but she’s been portrayed by absolute juggernaut actresses over the years, such as Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp.
Marvel seemingly is looking for a big star to step up to the plate when it comes to casting Storm in the MCU. A new rumor from scooper MyTimeToShineHello suggests that the studio wants DeWanda Wise to portray the iconic X-Men in the reboot. Wise is no stranger to the blockbuster scene, having played Kayla Watts in Jurassic World: Dominion.
Is DeWanda Wise Playing Storm In The MCU?
This rumor wouldn’t be shocking if true. DeWanda Wise has previously been courted by Marvel for the role of Maria Rambeau in the MCU, with Wise ultimately dropping out for her role in Jurassic World. It would only make sense for the studio to go back to their well of actors they’ve gotten along with when casting a role as big as Storm in the X-Men reboot.
This rumor also lines up with others that have come out about Marvel’s attempt to cast Storm. Recently, it was floated that Wicked star Cynthia Erivo was being eyed to play the Weather Witch in the X-Men reboot. Erivo fits a very similar profile as DeWanda Wise, potentially meaning that both actresses are up for the coveted role.
